World Book Day- 3 March 2022
Dr Lisa Cameron MP Champions the Vitality of Books
Dr. Lisa Cameron MP has been supporting World Book Day 2022 emphasizing the importance of books for our children’s wellbeing.
World Book Day is an annual event that raises awareness about the significance of books and reading, and its influence on this nation’s youth. It aims to demonstrate that everyone is a reader, and hopes to see more children and young people, especially those from underprivileged homes, develop a lifelong habit of reading for pleasure, which will enhance their life prospects and wellbeing.
More than family circumstances, parents’ educational backgrounds, or wealth – research shows that reading for pleasure is the single most important predictor of a child’s future success.
There has been an economic and educational divide that has worsened as a result of COVID-19.
World Book Day encourages all children to read for pleasure and helps to combat book poverty. It is more crucial than ever this year.
Dr. Lisa Cameron MP said:
“It is just fantastic to champion the 25th Anniversary of World Book Day, spreading awareness of the value of books for every child. As a parent, I see the value of taking time to read with my children and the positive impact it has on their little lives, their concentration, learning and enjoyment. Please raise awareness of the importance of books this World Book Day ”.
