Dr Lisa Cameron MP – September Update

A short update mid month to let you know a few local updates:

East Kilbride Test Centre: Good news that our East Kilbride’s Driving Test Centre is to remain at the local Legion. Congratulations to Bobby Russell and the team whose campaign I was delighted to support.

Lesmahagow Festival of Colour: Very pleased to open the Annual Festival of Colours in Lesmahagow again this year and to meet with attendees.

Opening of Climate Action Strathaven Hub: Very proud to attend the opening of the climate action hub and to give my speech on the work being undertaken there. Thanks to Tom and his team who are really making a difference.

World Clean Up Day: Had a lovely day today supporting the litter pick along the Queensway for World Clean Up Day. Met such great people volunteering to litter pick in EK and Cllr John Anderson was excellent organising litter pickers and gloves.

Coffee Morning: Next months online coffee with your MP will be in West Mains East Kilbride 8th October at 10am.

Westminster

I am down at Westminster each week just now for votes.

Universal Credit Cuts:  I have been opposing the Tory cuts to Universal Credit that will adversely impact the most vulnerable.

Social Care:  UK Government’s plans to fund social care are likely to benefit the most affluent and tax those on low pay and SNP voted against these plans.

Independence:

It was great to hear such inspiring speeches at SNP Conference and the First Minister’s plans for Independence.  This must be our key priority moving forward as Scotland’s recovery requires it.
